Gold gained $21.72 to $1236.62 by a little after 8:30AM EST before it chopped back lower at times, but it still ended with a gain of 1.26%. Silver climbed to as high as $15.209 and ended with a gain of 1.41%.
Euro gold rose to about €1080, platinum gained $10 to $948, and copper remained at about $2.15.
Gold and silver equities rose about 3% in the first 90 minutes of trade and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Oil ended slightly higher in mixed trade ahead of tomorrow’s supply data.
The U.S. dollar index erased most of its early morning gains on mixed economic data.
Treasuries rose as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P fell about 1% on worries about global growth and interest rate uncertainty.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Marvell, Goldman Sachs, Valeant, Twitter, PayPal, and Pfizer-Allergan.
