Precious Metals Charts Intraday

 

The Metals:

 

Gold dropped down to $1230.05 in early Asian trade before it bounced back to $1243.84 by about 4AM EST, but it then fell back off again for most of the rest of the day and ended near its late session low of $1223.84 with a loss of 1.41%.  Silver slipped to $15.904 before it rallied back to $16.243 and then also fell back off, but it ended with a loss of just 0.62%.

Euro gold fell to about €1089, platinum lost $11 to $986, and copper remained at about $2.17.

 

Gold and silver equities fell as much as 5% by early afternoon before they cut their losses in the last few hours of trade, but they still ended about 3% lower on the day.

Oil ended slightly lower as the U.S. dollar index edged higher and treasuries fell on better than expected jobs data that sent the Dow and S&P marginally higher.

 

Among the big names making news in the market today were Valeant, Fannie, Freddie, BMW, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Delta Air, BlackRock, and Microsoft.
